In November 2011 award winning British photographer and publisher Guy Woodland was a guest of the People’s Government of Sichuan. He joined an elite team of foreign photographers assigned to ‘record’ the restoration work carried out following the devastating ‘Wenchuan’ earthquake of 2008, which killed nearly 70,000 people and with many more injured and made homeless.

He visited the quake-battered cities of Deyang and Mianyang, as well as the Aba Tibetan-Qiang Autonomous Prefecture, known for its unique ethnic cultures. The trip was organised by the cultural office of the Foreign Affairs Division of the Sichuan Provincial Government.

Guy’s photographs are part of a major international exhibition - and included in a commemorative book - organised by the Sichuan Provincial Government. Guy is co-founder and vice-president of the UK based Sino Creative Practice, which is helping to promote China’s provinces and regions on the world stage.
